RAQCHI CUSCO – ONE DAY

Come and enjoy the Raqchi Cusco one-day route, a little-known place in the South Valley of the Incas! The Archaeological Park of Raqchi is located in the community of Raqchi, district of San Pedro; and archaeological evidence indicates that this was a town with important constructions, such as the Temple of Wiraqocha (built in homage to the superior god creator of the universe, Apu Kon Titi Teqsi Wiracocha). Within the complex, there are aqueducts, underground tombs, enclosures of the pre-Inca culture, terraces for various purposes, and the gigantic wall that protects the park, remains of the temple to the god Wiracocha. In fact, according to studies, they were divided into 5 sectors: first, the temple of Wiracocha, the Greater Inca Temple, the warehouses, the statue, the enclosures, and the water sources. Furthermore, in Raqchi, up to 156 colcas with a circular plan were found, warehouses for grains such as corn, quinoa, potatoes, chuño, and dried alpaca meat.

Climate information It has a temperate and dry climate; with two seasons: the dry season (April to October), with sunny days and cold nights, and the rainy season (November to March).

What can be observed?

Main attractions Temple of Huiracocha: It is the largest, only the walls remain. The Greater Inca Temple: Similar to the Temple of Huiracocha, but only the base remains. The Colcas: Ancient circular warehouses. The Enclosures: Houses or barracks for the inhabitants. The Water Sources: They supplied Raqchi; the best is known as the Inca’s baths. The Qhapac Ñan: Raqchi was part of this great road system, being part of Chaskiwasi or the house of the messengers.

CIELO PUNKU VIEWPOINT – HUARO

Additional attraction Located south of the city of Cusco, in the district of Huaro, province of Quispicanchi, this viewpoint is known as the Giant Hand of Cusco or the Gate of Heaven; inaugurated by the Municipal District of Huaro in 2021. From this viewpoint, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the picturesque landscape of the Cusco region.

PROGRAM – RAQCHI CUSCO 1 DAY

Itinerary We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 a.m. and transport you in our tourist transport units to the community of Raqchi. Upon arrival, you can enjoy the picturesque landscape and the cozy climate of the area. Later, we will visit the archaeological complex of Raqchi, where our guide will explain the origins, importance, and transcendence of the place for the Incas, with a space to take photos. Next, we will visit a craft center to witness the elaboration of Raqchi’s own ceramics, declared cultural heritage of the nation in 2018. Then, we will have lunch at “La Montana Restaurant”, a cozy place with Andean decorations and local flavors. We will end the tour in Huaro, climbing to the “Cielo Punku” viewpoint to capture impressive images, before returning to the city.
