Description Adventure, living culture and Andean landscapes
Explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas in a different and adrenaline-filled way: on ATVs. This half-day tour combines adventure, living culture and stunning Andean landscapes. Travel rural roads towards Maras, Moray and the famous Salt Mines in an unmissable experience for nature and thrill lovers.
The adventure begins in the city of Cusco, with departures available in the morning (7:00 a.m.) or afternoon (1:00 p.m.), according to your preference. We will meet at a previously coordinated central point (usually the Main Square), and from there we will travel by private vehicle for about an hour to our base in Cruzpata.
Upon arrival, you will receive a safety briefing and a short driving practice (10 minutes), ideal even for those with no previous experience. Then we start the main route: 1.5 to 2 hours on ATVs through the Sacred Valley, crossing roads surrounded by mountains, crop fields and spectacular views of the Andes mountain range.
During the journey, we will make strategic stops at natural viewpoints perfect for photos, and you will have the option to visit the archaeological complex of Moray, an ancient Inca agricultural laboratory (optional entrance).
Afterwards, we will walk to the impressive Salt Mines of Maras, where more than 3,000 salt ponds form a unique landscape. ATV entry is restricted in this area to protect its historical and ecological value.
In addition to the cultural richness, you will enjoy privileged views of sacred mountains such as Waqaq Willka (La Verónica) and Chicón, part of the majestic Vilcanota mountain range.
At the end of the ATV circuit, we will return to the base to take the transport back to Cusco.
Note: You can also start or end this tour in Urubamba or another point in the Sacred Valley upon prior coordination (an additional cost may apply).

This ancient agricultural experimentation center demonstrates the advanced knowledge the Incas had about agriculture, altitude and microclimates. Salt Mines of Maras: After the ATV circuit, the tour continues by transport to the famous Salt Mines of Maras, a set of more than 3,000 active salt ponds since pre-Inca times. Local families continue to extract salt in an artisanal way, making this place a living testimony of the Sacred Valley’s cultural heritage.

Tour Start – 7:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco’s historic center or from a previously coordinated meeting point. Then, we’ll travel for approximately 50 minutes to the community of Cruzpata, the starting point for the ATV tour through the Sacred Valley.

Arrival at Cruzpata and Preparation
Upon arrival, our professional guide will give you a safety briefing and provide the necessary equipment (helmet and gloves). Then, you’ll have a 10-minute practice session to get familiar with the ATV before starting the adventure.

ATV Ride through the Sacred Valley
We’ll begin the ATV ride along rural roads surrounded by Andean landscapes, crop fields, and natural viewpoints. The ride lasts 1.5 to 2 hours and is mostly off-road. There will be stops at strategic points for photos and rest.

Rural Landscapes and Local Life
During the ride, you’ll see farming communities, traditional crops, and local animals such as llamas, sheep, and donkeys. This part of the tour offers an authentic connection with Andean daily life and the natural environment of the Sacred Valley.

Optional Visit to Moray
You’ll have the option to visit the Moray archaeological complex, famous for its circular terraces used as an Inca agricultural laboratory. Here you’ll learn about its function, design, and the Incas’ relationship with microclimates. Entrance is optional and not included in the tour price.

After the ATV circuit, transportation will take you to the Maras Salt Mines, as motorized vehicle access is restricted for conservation reasons. You’ll be able to walk among more than 3,000 salt ponds and learn about the ancestral extraction process still practiced by local families.
