DESCRIPTION

The Ausangate ATV tour is a unique experience that connects you with one of the most impressive settings in the Andes. We start very early from Cusco and, after a scenic drive, arrive in Cusipata, where you will enjoy an Andean breakfast at the Qempo tourist restaurant. This first stop allows you to recharge your energy before beginning the adventure.

We then continue to Ichupata, the starting point of the ATV route. Here you will receive a safety briefing and then begin an approximately 1 hour and 20 minute ride. Along the way, you will travel through landscapes surrounded by mountains, grasslands, llamas, alpacas, and streams flowing down from the glacier. As we advance, the views of the Ausangate snow-capped mountain become increasingly impressive.

Later, we leave the ATVs to begin a moderate hike of 40 to 50 minutes, during which we will visit the main high-Andean lagoons of the area. Highlights include: Ausangate Lagoon, with its crystal-clear waters; Qorisonqo Lagoon, famous for its three unique color tones; and Pucacocha Lagoon, known for its intense turquoise color and photogenic surroundings.

During this section, you will enjoy the best views of the Ausangate glacier, considered a sacred mountain by Andean communities. You will also have free time for photos, videos, and rest in this privileged natural environment.

Finally, we return by ATV to Ichupata and then travel back to Cusipata to enjoy an Andean buffet lunch at the Qempo tourist restaurant. To conclude, we begin the return journey to Cusco, arriving in the afternoon.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ROUTE

Qorisonqo Lagoon

A natural spectacle known for its changing tones ranging from deep green to turquoise. Its contrast with the Andean mountains makes it one of the most photogenic spots of the Ausangate ATV tour, ideal for panoramic photos and videos.

Considered a sacred mountain within the Andean worldview, the imposing Ausangate dominates the route with its massive glacier. It is the fifth-highest mountain in Peru and offers breathtaking views throughout much of the journey—a perfect setting to appreciate the power of the Andes.

Ausangate Lagoon or Blue Lagoon

Located at the foot of the snow-capped mountain, this lagoon stands out for its intense blue color and peaceful surroundings. It is one of the most anticipated moments of the tour—an ideal stop to enjoy the scenery, take unique photos, and breathe the pure high-altitude air.
