Cultural Heritage To undertake the Killarumiyoq Tour, we must travel approximately 48 km from the city of Cusco, in the province of Anta, to about 3650 m.a.s.l. This site is located on the Inca Trail route to Chinchaysuyo. Killarumiyoq, whose name comes from the Quechua word meaning “Stone of the Moon”, occupies an area of 5000 m². This ancient temple is dedicated to the female divinity Moon, considered by the Inca tradition as responsible for the fertility of the earth. It is not only a rock with perfect designs, but also cultivation and worship areas, which makes Killarumiyoq a sacred place for the locals.

Killarumiyoq Sector This is the best known sector of the Killarumiyoq Tour. Composed of two areas with archaeological evidence on both banks, it presents constructions with zigzag walls and polygonal style limestone blocks. The area has the shape of an irregular polygon on an abrupt relief. Phaccha Subsector On the Killarumiyoq Tour, you will reach the Phaccha subsector, known for its trapezoidal niches on both sides and an impressive natural waterfall that descends from the heights of Apu Soqomarka. This place is a clear example of the connection between nature and Inca architecture. Ceremonial Plaza Subsector This subsector of the Killarumiyoq Tour is located 37 km from the main site. In it, you can see a plain 55 m long and 30 m wide. In the center, there is an outcrop of limestone rock, possibly a HUACA (sacred object or place). Next, there is a rock in the shape of a condor with its beak planted. Finally, to the west, you can see a retaining wall built with finely polished polygonal blocks of limestone. Qorihuayrachina Sector In this sector of the Killarumiyoq Tour, you can see three platforms, associated with water sources, with zigzag walls. In addition, you will find a waka with carvings towards the base, which highlights the sacred link between the Incas and their natural elements. Inkaraqay Sector Finally, the Killarumiyoq Tour takes you to the Inkaraqay sector, where the walls, built with limestone in a polygonal style, delimit rectangular and quadrangular shaped terrains. These walls vary in height from 2 to 3 meters and have spaces ranging from 14 to 36 meters wide, highlighting the impressive engineering of the Incas.
