DESCRIPTION

Nature, adventure, and Andean culture
This two-day tour invites you to explore two natural wonders of the southern Andes: Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) and the 7 Ausangate Lagoons circuit, located near one of the most imposing and sacred snow-capped mountains in Peru. It is an ideal experience for travelers who want to combine high-altitude hiking, unique panoramic views, and direct contact with Andean nature.

First, we depart from Cusco towards the Cusipata area, where we begin the hike to the famous Rainbow Mountain, a unique geological formation known for its natural colors created by mineral sediments. This site has become one of Cusco’s most iconic destinations due to its beauty and powerful natural energy.

After visiting Rainbow Mountain, we continue to the community of Pacchanta, located at the foot of the Ausangate glacier, where we will spend the night. Here, you will have the option to relax in natural hot springs while enjoying the sunset in front of a truly unforgettable mountain landscape.

On the second day, we begin the hike to the 7 Ausangate Lagoons circuit, a route that crosses high-mountain scenery featuring lagoons in intense shades of turquoise, emerald green, and light blue, all fed by the glaciers surrounding Mount Ausangate. Along the way, it is also possible to observe Andean wildlife such as alpacas, vizcachas, and local bird species.

In summary, this tour offers an authentic connection with the Andes and allows you to closely experience the natural power of Ausangate, combining adventure, spirituality, and dreamlike landscapes. It is a perfect option for those who wish to go beyond conventional routes and experience the mountains in their purest form.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ROUTE

Its spectacular natural beauty has made it one of Cusco’s most sought-after destinations and the perfect starting point for a journey that culminates near the majestic Ausangate glacier.
  • Pacchanta: A small Andean community located at the base of Ausangate, where the tranquility of rural life blends with impressive mountain scenery. This is where you will find natural hot springs, ideal for relaxing after the Rainbow Mountain hike.
  • 7 Ausangate Lagoons: This circuit allows you to admire seven intensely colored lagoons—turquoise, emerald, and deep blue—formed by the melting glaciers of Ausangate. During the hike, you will also observe high-Andean flora and fauna, surrounded by sacred mountains.
  • Ausangate Glacier: Considered a sacred mountain by local communities, Ausangate is the spiritual heart of the route. From different points along the circuit, you can admire its snow-capped peaks, hanging glaciers, and landscapes that reflect the essence of the Peruvian Andes.
