DESCRIPTION

Day 1: Cusco – Abra Pukakasa – Ananta
We depart early from Cusco heading south through the Sacred Valley in tourist transport, with a 3-hour journey to the trailhead. Along the way, we’ll admire the stunning Vilcanota mountain range and picturesque Andean villages.
The hike begins with a moderate ascent to Pucacocha Lagoon, where we enjoy lunch surrounded by majestic landscapes. We then continue uphill toward the Pucacocha Pass, reaching elevations close to 5,000 m.a.s.l., with views of Andean camelids and panoramic vistas of Ausangate. In the afternoon, we descend for about 2 hours to Ananta, our first campsite.

Day 2: Ananta – Vinicunca – Cusco
After an early breakfast, we start a gradual 2-hour ascent to the Vinicunca Pass (5,080 m.a.s.l.). Along the trail, we’ll witness colorful mountain formations and high-Andean wildlife.
From the Vinicunca viewpoint, we enjoy a privileged perspective of the Rainbow Mountain and the Vilcanota range. After time for photos and rest, we descend for about 1.5 hours to the village of Quesoyuno, where we’ll have lunch. We then return to Cusco by tourist transport, arriving around 6:00 PM.
