The Red Valley has a cold, high mountain climate. During the day, especially between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., the temperature ranges between 7 °C and 12 °C, although the sun can make it feel a little warmer.

However, in the very early mornings and during the afternoon, the temperature drops considerably, and at night it can drop to 0 °C or less.

It is recommended to wear warm clothing, in layers, as well as a hat, gloves and a good windbreaker jacket, as the climate can change rapidly in this high altitude area.

The Red Valley is a unique natural spectacle, located more than 4,900 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Vilcanota mountain range. Its name is due to the intense reddish color of its mountains and hills, the result of the high concentration of minerals in the soil.

Tour Description

We begin our adventure with pick-up from your accommodation aboard our comfortable and safe tourist transport. Then, we head south of Cusco on a trip of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, until we reach our country restaurant “La Montaña”, where we will enjoy a nutritious buffet breakfast, prepared with local products.

After breakfast, we continue by vehicle for one more hour to the parking lot, the starting point of our walk. In this place, our professional guide will provide a complete explanation about the tour.

During the journey, we will walk along trails surrounded by impressive Andean landscapes, where it is common to see local people in traditional clothing, which gives an additional cultural charm to the tour.

As we ascend, the colors of the landscape intensify, until we reach the Red Valley, a unique natural setting due to its reddish tones that contrast with the sky and the nearby mountains. From the viewpoint, we will have time to take photos, enjoy the surroundings and contemplate the beauty of the place.

After the visit, we will return to the parking lot to board our transport and go back to the restaurant, where a comforting buffet lunch awaits us. After lunch, we will begin the return trip to the city of Cusco, thus ending an unforgettable experience.
